Jeremiah's Volunteer Project

9/8:

• I saw a cool amp that showed many counties they serve in both states

• I meet Jerry the "Walmart Aisle manager"

• I learned how to sort hygiene products

• I saw how massive the warehouse was

 

9/17:

• I learned how to pack the drawstring bags

• I saw the tension between two people in my organization unfold due to competition

• I became closer friends with someone in AMA, my other organization

 

10/12:

• I learned how to sort food in the first room, and found out that it is the coldest room

• I noticed that there was a water fountain with poles around it, a huge random fan in the walk way, and got to see how a compactor works first hand 

• I meet Anthony

 

10/18:

• I learned how to sort non food products

• I was told of the safety violation about having music in the back where the forklifts are

• I meet Ms. Conny

 

10/22:

• I learned how to use a palate jack

• I saw how busy the front room can get and the frustration it causes

• I heard how confused others were when sorting and it reminded me of myself on my first day

 

10/27:

• I meet Tate

• I heard news of Anthony having hip surgery

• I volunteered back to back days and it made it feel like work

 

11/11:

• I meet the new guy Charles on his third day of working for Second Harvest

• I brought music into the front room and we discussed music and who we thought were actual good rappers and who weren't and we talked about sports too

• I noticed another two group of people volunteering about the same amount as me and meet them;they were volunteering for her school

 

11/18:

• My last day volunteering for the project

• I saw how badly the expansion was needed

• I brought a jacket again but didn't even wear it, because it was colder outside
